LADBS Status

What LADBS permit status means.

A permit status is a clue, not the whole answer. The useful question is what the status means for the decision you are about to make.

Issued

Issued usually means a permit was granted for work to proceed under the approved scope. It does not by itself prove the work passed final inspection.

Application or plan check

Application and plan check signals can show that someone started the process. They may not mean the work was approved, built, or completed.

Corrections and revisions

Corrections and revisions can be normal, but repeated or unresolved activity may show that the record needs a closer read before you rely on it.

Finaled or completed

A final or completed signal is important, but still compare it to the work description, address, unit, and any related permits.

Expired, void, or withdrawn

These statuses can matter when someone claims work was fully permitted. They are not automatic deal killers, but they are records worth verifying.

Checklist before trusting a status

  • Does the address match exactly?
  • Does the scope match the claimed work?
  • Is there a final inspection or closeout signal?
  • Are related electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or grading permits missing?
  • Is the status current enough for your decision?

Need the record checked?

Permit Review Plus is $149 per address. You get a first-pass record check, red flags, and a practical memo. See the sample report or use the intake form.

FAQ

Does issued mean finaled?

No. Issued and finaled are different signals. Check inspection history and closeout records.

Can a finaled permit still have risk?

Yes. The risk may be a scope mismatch, wrong address, missing related permit, or work outside the approved scope.

Is this approval advice?

No. PermitPulse provides public-record review support, not legal, architectural, engineering, or permit approval advice.
